Where teams get stuck

There is no shortage of plans. The hard part is choosing, and then following through. This is what we see most:

Many plansOne route
  • AYou have many projects running and nobody can say which three matter most.
  • BEvery project gets its own decision, because nobody sees the whole picture.
  • CEvery department tells a different story about where things are heading.
  • DYour team is waiting for a decision, for another team or for the new system.
(03) Specialisms

Specialisms

Alongside our broader work in digitalisation, we have two specialisms.

Specialism 1 · Public space and GIS

From map to decision.

In public space, everything hangs on the map. We make sure the layers connect, from key register to the choice of which project goes ahead. We do not build GIS. We make sure the GIS landscape fits how you work and decide.

  1. 01
GroundBase registries and topography as a shared foundation.
  2. 02
Managed assetsRoads, green, water and structures, recorded consistently.
  3. 03
ConditionInspections to NEN 2767, comparable over the years.
  4. 04
Planning and portfolioMeasures, budget and priorities: which project goes ahead.

Specialism 2 · Operations and finance

Data that steers the business.

Operations and finance hold a lot of data, but rarely where decisions are made. We look at what the business gains from that data and how to put it to work: in planning, reporting, control and automating repetitive work. For businesses and for government.

  • Financial processes and reporting: figures that arrive on time and mean the same to everyone.
  • Management control: the right management information for whoever decides.
  • Project administration: a grip on hours, costs and progress per project.
  • Process mining: seeing how processes really run, not how they look on paper.
  • RPA: automating repetitive work, so people have time left for the exceptions.
  • Planning and deployment: deploying people and resources based on data.

We do not advise on the choice of an ERP package. We do advise on what you do with the data.

Planning that avoids rush hour.

As Chief Digital Officer of Siemens Netherlands, Robin initiated and led the development of an algorithm that schedules the work of service engineers across the country with as little travel time as possible. Siemens expected it to save around one million kilometres of driving in 2020.

Winner with a maintenance case.

Robin led the Siemens team that won the Leadership Challenges with Data Analytics at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, in January 2020, with a use case on the maintenance of installations. The jury cited the systematic process approach, the smart use of data and the clear visualisation.

(04) Approach

How we work

Our approach has four steps. Their first letters spell NEXT.

  1. Navigate

We map everything that is running, what the goals are and where things are stuck. After that, everyone is talking about the same thing.

  2. Empower

We agree who decides what, and when. Without that agreement, every decision stalls.

  3. eXplore

What is still uncertain, we try out on a small scale first. Only then does serious time and money go into it.

  4. Transform

We build what works into your normal way of working, so it stays after we have left.

At the end, your team has an overview to carry on with: which initiatives go ahead, who is responsible for what and how you decide.

(06) Results

What it delivers

  • Portfolio management at a large municipality

    Ongoing

An information model with fourteen entities and seven phases. The management team took a decision on the tooling, and building a first version has started.

  • Green-space data in order

    City of Amsterdam

As information manager at the municipality, Robin initiated and led a project in which the data on more than 76,000 green-space objects was checked and corrected in less than a year, together with TAUW and Swink. Only around 400 objects still had to be inspected on site.
